In 1898, Zhang Zhidong, then Governor-general of Huguang (present-day Hubei and Hunan provinces), presented this spirit to Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, who named it Tian Cheng Fang, meaning “an excellent brew made by heaven, strengthening the nation and its people.” The brand has been passed down for over a century, preserving its time-honored brewing techniques. Yellow Crane Tower Baijiu has earned numerous prestigious titles, including China’s Time-Honored Brand, China Well-known Trademark, and Wuhan Signature Product. Its unique brewing craft has also been recognized as a Hubei Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage.
